VROOM, VROOM, VROOM, GRIND, CLANG, POW! That'll be HOW MUCH to fix!? #@*$! "Honey, looks like the new deck will have to wait another year, my lower unit blew today!" Picture this: You and your buddy are packed and ready for the first spring bite. Yeehaw! A fishing trip to Potholes! You've got new line, rods and reels, and a clean, shiny boat. You ready bud? Let's go! After filling up the boat and truck with gas, a measly $90 at $1.90/gallon, you're off. You drive past North Bend, Cle Elum, through Ellensburg, and are coasting down Radiator Hill to the home stretch. Someone flags you down and tells you your trailer is smoking… Pull it over! You get out and find a molten glob of steel where your seized, unlubed, and forgotten about bleeping bearing buddy once was. After getting to a phone, paying $200 for parts and labor, and sitting through a blown weekend, you're headed home.
SOUND FUN?
Dave and John from Auburn Sports and Marine will be entertainment for this month. Hopefully they will enlighten us on how to prevent the above scenarios! Dave, owner and head honcho along with their lead mechanic, John, will also open the floor for a Q & A session for all our little quirks we've learned to deal with, but haven't done anything about. Let's have a good turnout for 'em!
Thanks to Terry Steffensen and Chris Sergeant for a very revealing insight about techniques, locations, and how to finish #1 and #2 in the in the tournaments for last year. "I know where I'm going to fish at Potholes this year!" Ha-Ha, just kidding guys.
UPDATE: Tyler Hankinson and his family made the trip to the Yakima Sportsman's Show where Tyler competed in the state final Casting Kids competition. Wearing his WBC cap, he proudly finished 4th in his age group. Though only winners from each age group advanced, Tyler made his Dad (me) very proud. Being 4th best at casting in the state for 11-14 year olds is something to be proud of.
Take care all! See ya at the meeting, Don Hankinson (253) 334-8077
